How the Bitcoin Tracker works
Type the amount of Bitcoin you hold and the tracker multiplies it by the latest Bitcoin price from Coinbase. The result updates with every trade, so you can watch your total rise and fall in real time. The 24-hour change compares today's price with the price 24 hours ago, applied to your amount.
What are Sats?
One Bitcoin is made of 100,000,000 smaller units called Satoshis, usually shortened to Sats. They are named after Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. Because a Sat is so small, most people can own thousands or millions of Sats without buying a whole Bitcoin. Switch the toggle to Sats to enter your holding that way, and the tracker shows the same amount in Bitcoin below your total.
Why does the value move all day?
Bitcoin trades 24 hours a day, every day of the year, with no opening bell or closing time. Its price is set by buyers and sellers on exchanges around the world, so it can change within seconds, including nights and weekends. For a closer look at the basics, read About Bitcoin.
Where does the price come from?
The live price is the most recent Bitcoin trade against the US dollar on Coinbase, one of the largest US exchanges. Other exchanges can differ by a small amount at any moment, and your own buy or sell price may differ because of fees. If the live connection drops, the tracker falls back to refreshing the price every 15 seconds.
