Analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It collects information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), your device and browser type, and how you reached the site. We use this only in aggregate to improve the site. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to stop Analytics from collecting data about your visits.
Consent for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
We use Google Consent Mode. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, advertising and analytics storage are turned off by default, and Google's tags don't set advertising or analytics cookies until you give consent through the consent message shown on the site. Contact form and email
If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and message. We use them only to read and reply to your message. We don't sell them, share them for marketing, or add you to a mailing list. The form sends your message to us by email, and it stays in our mailbox for as long as we need it to answer you. To prevent spam, the form keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for up to one hour to limit how many messages can be sent from one connection. It also contains a hidden field to catch automated spam.
Live Bitcoin price (Coinbase)
To show the live Bitcoin price, your browser connects directly to Coinbase's public market-data service (and, if that is unavailable, to Coinbase's or CoinGecko's public price APIs). These requests come from your browser, so those services receive your IP address and standard browser information, under their own privacy policies. No account or login is involved, and we don't send them any information about you.
Embedded videos
Some News pages embed YouTube videos using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube may collect information when you play an embedded video, under Google's privacy policy.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web host automatically records standard server logs when pages are requested, including your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. We use these logs only to run and secure the site and to fix problems.
Cookies and your choices
ETFbit's own pages don't set cookies to identify you. The cookies used on this site come from Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though ads may be less relevant.
Children's privacy
ETFbit is a general-audience site about financial data and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
